Chap. 285.—An ACT to authorize the State Highway Commissioner to convey to
the Building and Loan Company of Manchester, Incorporated, a certain parcel
of real estate in Chesterfield county no longer needed for State highway pur-
poses, in exchange for a parcel of land now owned by the Building and Loan
Company of Manchester, Incorporated. [H B 216]

Whereas, in building a section of a road in the secondary system
of highways known as Belt Boulevard, in Manchester District,
Chesterfield county, Virginia, it became necessary to occupy land
owned by the Building and Loan Company of Manchester, Incor-
porated, and to vacate a section of the right of way acquired by the
board of supervisors of Chesterfield county, Virginia, by deed from
John T. Lee, and others, dated April fourteenth, nineteen hundred
and thirty-two, and recorded June sixteenth, nineteen hundred and
thirty-two, in deed book two hundred and thirteen page one hundred
and eighty-one, Chesterfield Circuit Court clerk’s office; and,
Whereas, the Building and Loan Company of Manchester, Incor-
porated, is desirous of obtaining that portion of the right of way
which is no longer needed for road purposes and is willing to convey
to the Commonwealth of Virginia the land upon which the said road
has been built, which said land is owned by the company, in exchange
for the said parcel of land which was vacated and is no longer needed
for highway purposes ; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That upon
receipt of a good and sufficient deed of a special warranty from the
Building and Loan Company of Manchester, Incorporated, conveying
to the Commonwealth of Virginia a parcel of land containing sixteen-
one hundredths (0.16) acres on the west side of a secondary road in
Manchester District, Chesterfield county, known as Belt Boulevard,
upon which parcel the roadway has already been built, the State
Highway Commissioner is authorized and empowered, in the name
and on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to convey to the
Building and Loan Company of Manchester, Incorporated, by appro-
priate and proper deed, a parcel of land containing seventeen-one
hundredths (0.17) acres which adjoins the east right of way line of
the Belt Boulevard, a road in the secondary system in the Man-
chester District, Chesterfield county, Virginia, which is deemed by
the State Highway Commissioner of Virginia to be no longer neces-
sary for highway purposes.
2. The parcels of land to be so conveyed and exchanged are
shown on map (showing a revised location of a section of the Belt
Boulevard) scale one inch to fifty feet, made by W. W. LaPrade and
Brother, civil engineers and surveyors, dated May twenty-eighth,
nineteen hundred and thirty-five, now on file in the office of the
Department of Highways, Richmond, Virginia.
3. An emergency existing this act shall be in force from the date
of its passage.
