Chap. 279.—An ACT for the relief of the Jefferson Hospital, Incorporated,
Roanoke, Virginia. [H B 520]

Whereas, on the ninth day of August, nineteen hundred and
thirty-five, J. L. Webb, deputy sheriff of Franklin county, was shot
while undertaking to execute a criminal process in his said county ;
and,
Whereas, in order to save his life, it was necessary that he should
immediately receive treatment and the services of a hospital physi-
cian, surgeons and nurses; and,
Whereas, such services were rendered by the hospital staff of the
Jefferson Hospital, Incorporated, of Roanoke, Virginia; and,
Whereas, the claim of the hospital for such services, amounting
to seven hundred fifty-seven dollars and sixty-three cents ($757.63),
was approved by the Circuit Court of Franklin County, and the
Comptroller is doubtful of his authority to comply with the order
of the court directing its payment; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That there
be, and is hereby, appropriated the sum of seven hundred fifty-seven
dollars and sixty-three cents ($757.63), payable out of the funds
appropriated for criminal expenses of the State, to be paid to the
Jefferson Hospital, Incorporated, and that the Comptroller is hereby
authorized and directed to draw his warrant in favor of the Jefferson
Hospital, Incorporated, in the sum of seven hundred fifty-seven dol-
lars and sixty-three cents ($757.63), and the Treasurer of Virginia is
authorized and directed to pay same.
