Chap. 249.—An ACT for the relief of M. F. Powers. [H B 466]

Whereas, on February fourteenth, eighteen hundred and ninety-four,
the Commonwealth of Virginia recovered judgment for twenty-five
dollars ($25.00) and costs, for a fine, against M. F. Powers in the
Corporation Court for the City of Bristol, Virginia, which was docketed
on February twenty-fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-four in judg-
ment lien docket number one, page one hundred and forty-eight, which
judgment and costs were paid to the then clerk of said court, but the
payment of only the costs was noted by said clerk on the judgment lien
docket, although his receipt was given for the full amount of the
judgment and costs; and
Whereas, said receipt was lost and the said sum of twenty-five dol-
lars was again paid on April twenty-second, nineteen hundred and nine to
the then clerk of said court in a suit brought for the sale of certain
real estate then owned by said M. F. Powers, the receipt for payment
of said judgment and costs having been lost and not found until
recently ; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Comptroller be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed, to issue his
warrant on the Treasurer of Virginia in favor of M. F. Powers for
the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), which surn shall be paid from
funds not otherwise appropriated out of the State literary fund.
