Chap. 189.—An ACT to authorize publishers of newspapers to erect and main-
tain newspaper route boxes on the rights of way of public roads in rural
sections, and to print on such boxes the names of the newspapers to be
deposited therein. [S B 212]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
publishers of all newspapers having a circulation in rural sections of
the State shall have authority to erect and maintain suitable newspaper
route boxes along, and on the rights of way of, the public roads and
highways throughout such rural sections, in which to deposit such
papers for their subscribers. The short name of the newspaper to be
deposited in each such box, but nothing more, may be plainly printed
thereon; and all such boxes shall be so located as not to interfere with,
or endanger, public travel on such roads and highways all such loca-
tions, however, to meet with the approval of the Chairman of the
State Highway Commission, and said chairman shall designate one
color which color shall be used for painting all boxes upon which is to
be printed the name of the newspaper to be deposited therein.
