Chap. 173.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia, by adding thereto a new
section numbered 322, providing for the appointment, duties and expenses of
Commissioners for the Promotion of Uniformity of Legislation in the United
States. [H B 63]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section num-
bered three hundred and twenty-two, which new section shall read
as follows:
Section 322. Appointment of commissioners for the promotion
of uniformity of legislation in the United States; their duties; travel-
ing expenses.—Every two years the Governor shall appoint three
commissioners, who are hereby constituted a board of commission-
ers by the name and style of commissioners for the promotion of
uniformity of legislation in the United States. It shall be the duty
of said commissioners to examine subjects on which uniformity is
desirable, to ascertain the best means to effect uniformity in the laws
of the states, and to represent the State of Virginia in conventions
of like commissioners heretofore appointed or to be appointed by
other states to consider and draft uniform laws to be submitted for
approval of and adoption by the several states, and to devise and
recommend such other course of action as shall best accomplish. the
purpose of this section. Each of the said commissioners shall hold
office at the pleasure of the Governor for a term of two years. Vac-
ancies shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms. The
said commissioners shall receive no compensation for their services,
but their necessary traveling expenses, not to exceed one hundred
dollars each per annum, shall be paid out of any funds in the State
treasury not otherwise appropriated when the account for the same
has been approved by the Governor.
