Chap. 171.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new
section numbered 4693-a, providing how the committing, or permitting, of
any act prohibited by any one or more of sections 4676 to 4693, both in-
clusive, may be enjoined and restrained, and to prescribe the method of pro-
cedure for such purpose, said Code sections being in relation to gaming,
gambling, betting and other similar offenses. [H B 422]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section num-
bered forty-six hundred and ninety-three-a, which new section shall
read as follows:
Section 4693-a. Whenever any person shall be engaged in com-
mitting, or in permitting to be committed, or shall be about to com-
mit, or permit, any act prohibited by any one or more of sections
forty-six hundred and seventy-six to forty-six hundred and ninety-
three, both inclusive, the Commonwealth’s attorney of the county
or city in which such act is being, or is about to be, committed or
permitted, or the Attorney General of the State, may institute and
maintain a suit in equity in the appropriate court, in the name of
the State, upon the relation of such Commonwealth’s attorney, or the
Attorney General, to enjoin and restrain such person from committing,
or permitting, such prohibited act, or acts. The procedure in any such
suit shall be similar to the procedure in other suits for injunctions,
except that no bond shall be required upon the granting of either a
temporary or permanent injunction therein.
