section numbered 4997-a, providing for the taking of fingerprints, photographs
and descriptions of convicts received in the penitentiary. [H B 69]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section numbered
forty-nine hundred and ninety-seven-a, which new section shall read as
follows:
Section 4997-a. Photographs, fingerprints and a description of each
convict, male and female, received in the penitentiary, shall be taken
and filed for identification purposes. The bureau of identification at the
State penitentiary shall co-operate with Federal, State, county and city
law enforcement agencies, in so far as it may deem proper in connection
with the disclosure of information concerning such convicts, and the
taking of fingerprints and photographs of persons charged with the
commission of a felony.
