Chap. 40.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3433 of the Code of Virginia
of 1930, concerning the salary and mileage of the Attorney General, his
assistants, secretaries and stenographers and contingent expenses of his office.

I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
thirty-four hundred and thirty-three of chapter one hundred and thirty-
four of the Code of Virginia of nineteen hundred and thirty, shall be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 3433. The Attorney General shall receive for his services
the sum of seven thousand dollars per annum and actual expenses for all
necessary travel on the business of the State. He is authorized to em-
ploy two assistant Attorneys General at a salary not to exceed five
thousand dollars per annum each, four assistant Attorneys General at a
salary not to exceed four thousand dollars per annum each, and two
assistant Attorneys General at a salary not to exceed three thousand
dollars per annum each. The Attorney General and his several as-
sistants shall devote their entire time to the business of the State and
shall not engage in the private practice of law during their terms of
office. The assistant Attorneys General shall in addition to the salaries
herein provided be reimbursed for actual expenses for all travel on the
business of the State. He shall have power to appoint such clerical
force as he may deem necessary for the efficient conduct of his depart-
ment and to apportion such salary among his several clerks, secretaries
and stenographers as he may think proper; but the aggregate amount
paid such secretaries, clerks and stenographers shall not exceed the sum
provided by law. He shall have power to expend for the contingent
expenses of his office such sums as may be provided by law.
2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act are hereby
repealed.
