Chap. 392.—An ACT to empower any city and county now jointly operating or
which may hereafter jointly operate a ferry or ferries to issue bonds therefor.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That any
city and county now jointly operating, and any city and county which
may hereafter jointly operate, any ferry or ferries under authority of
law are authorized and empowered to issue, either jointly or severally,
bonds for that purpose. The city may issue such bonds in accordance
with section one hundred and twenty-seven-b (127-B) of the Consti-
tution of Virginia. But no county shall issue any bonds hereunder
until the bonds have been approved by a majority vote of the qualified
voters of the county voting at an election called for that purpose and
such election shall be held in accordance with the provisions of sec-
tions twenty-seven hundred and thirty-eight, twenty-seven hundred and
thirty-nine and twenty-seven hundred and forty of the Code of Vir-
ginia. All power and authority contained in and all the provisions of
chapter twenty-six of the Acts of nineteen hundred and thirty-three
of the General Assembly of Virginia are hereby conferred upon such
city and county, so long as said act is effective.
In order that any city and county may immediately take advantage
of the National Recovery Act passed by the Congress of the United
States, an emergency is declared to exist and this act shall take effect
from its passage.
