Chap. 350.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding to chapter 109
thereof a new section numbered 2770-a, providing for clerks for boards of
supervisors and fixing and providing for the compensation and duties of such
clerks: and to repeal section 2770 of the Code of Virginia, as heretofore
amended, relating to the same matters. [H B 355]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding to chapter one hundred and
nine thereof a new section, numbered twenty-seven hundred and sev-
enty-a, which new section shall read as follows:
Section 2770-a. Clerk of board; his general duties—The county
clerk shall be ex-officio clerk of the board of supervisors. It shall
be his general duty—
First. To record in a book to be provided for that purpose all
the proceedings of the board.
Second. To make regular entries of all their resolutions and de-
cisions on all questions concerning the raising of money; and within
five days after any order for a levy is made, to deliver a copy there-
of to each commissioner of the revenue of his county.
Third. To record the vote of each supervisor on any question
submitted to the board, if required by any member present.
Fourth. To sign all warrants issued by the board for the pay-
ment of money, and to record, in a book provided for the purpose,
the reports of the county treasurer of his receipts and disbursements.
Fifth. To preserve and file all accounts acted upon by the board,
with their action thereon; and he shall perform such special duties
as are required of him by law.
In the county of Augusta the board of supervisors shall have the
power to elect for a term of two years someone other than the county
clerk as clerk of their board and to fix the compensation to be al-
lowed said clerk. The board shall by proper resolution, prescribe the
duties of said clerk, which shall be in addition to his duties as pre-
scribed by law.
2. Be it further enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia,
That section twenty-seven hundred and seventy of the Code of Vir-
ginia, as heretofore amended, be, and the same is hereby, repealed.
