Chap. 311.—An ACT to authorize the State Highway Commission of Virginia to
join with the State Highway and Public Works Commission of the State of
North Carolina to acquire the necessary lands therefor, and construct a bridge
across the Dan river near Milton, North Carolina, and to provide for the
payment of one-half of the costs of construction, and one-half of the costs
of maintenance thereof, if constructed, and to vest title to said bridge, when
and if constructed. [fH B 142]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the

and empowered in its discretion to join with the State Highway and
Public Works Commission of the State of North Carolina, to acquire
the necessary lands, rights of way and approaches therefor, and to
construct a highway bridge over the Dan river near Milton, North Car-
olina, connecting an important road of the secondary system of State
highways with the highways of North Carolina, and to pay one-half of
the costs of the acquisition of necessary lands therefor and construc-
tion of said bridge, out of funds set aside for the maintenance, improve-
ment, construction and reconstruction of the secondary system of State
highways under the provisions of chapter four hundred and fifteen of
the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred and thirty-two, provided the
State of North Carolina shall pay the other one-half of such costs. The
title to such bridge and approaches thereto shall, when the same shall
have been constructed, shall be vested jointly in the State of Virginia and
the State of North Carolina, in each an undivided one-half interest.
The State Highway Commission is also authorized and empowered to
provide for the payment of one-half of the cost of maintenance of such
bridge together with the approaches thereto, if said approaches are ac-
quired and said bridge is constructed under the provisions of this act
from funds set apart as aforesaid, provided the State of North Caro-
lina shall pay the other one-half of such costs of maintenance.
