Chap. 251.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 298 of the Code of Virginia,
as heretofore amended, relating to continuances to which members and _ officers
of the General Assembly are entitled. [H B 8]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
two hundred and ninety-eight of the Code of Virginia be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 298. Continuance of right; member or officer of General
Assembly.—Any party to an action or proceeding in any court, com-
mission or other tribunal having judicial or quasi judicial powers or
jurisdiction, who is an officer or member of the General Assembly, or
who has, prior to or during the session of the General Assembly em-
ployed or retained an attorney to represent him in such action or pro-
ceeding any officer or member of the General Assembly, shall be en-
titled to a continuance as a matter of right during said session and
within fifteen days after the adjournment thereof, and the failure of any
court, commission or other tribunal to allow such continuance when
requested so to do shall constitute reversible error.
