Chap. 216.—An ACT to authorize the town of Lebanon to acquire for a public
park and playground, a certain parcel of land lying within the corporate limits
of the town and owned by Russell County Livestock and Agricultural Associa-
tion, and to that end, to acquire the capital stock of said association as a step
towards acquiring the legal title to said property. [TH B 348]
Approved March 27, 1934
Whereas, the Russell County Livestock and Agricultural Associ-
ation, which was incorporated many years ago for the purpose of con-
ducting annually a county fair in the county of Russell, acquired for
such purpose a certain parcel of land lying within the corporate limits
of the town of Lebanon in said county, and after having conducted
a fair thereon for a number of years, the enterprise was abandoned,
and no such fair has been held by said association within the last five
or six years; and,
Whereas, the town of Lebanon is desirous of acquiring the said
parcel of land for a public park and playground and to the end that
the same may be done, a number of the stockholders of said association
have offered to donate their stock to the town while others have not as
yet agreed to do so; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
town of Lebanon, by and through its town council, 1s hereby authorized
and empowered to acquire the said parcel of land so owned by said
Russell County Livestock and Agricultural Association, for a public
park and playground; and, as a means to that end, to acquire by gift
or purchase, any part, or all, of the outstanding capital stock of said
association and to do such other things lawful to be done, as may be
necessary to enable the town to acquire the legal title to said parcel of
land.
