Chap. 101.—An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of
Pittsylvania county to lease and turn over to the State of Virginia, the county
poor farm of said county to be used by the Commission of Game and Inland
Fisheries for the purpose of propagation and preservation of game birds,
game animals and fish, and ratifying and confirming all former action taken
by the said board relating thereto. [S B 184]

Whereas, the county of Pittsylvania has ceased to use its county
poor farm for the purpose of caring for its poor, it having established
a consolidated poorhouse with other counties as authorized by law; and
Whereas, the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries are de-
sirous of obtaining the said poor farm of said county for the purposes
of propagation and preservation of game birds, game animals and fish,
and the board of supervisors of said county desire and are willing
to lease and turn over the said property to the State of Virginia, to
be used by its agency, the said Commission of Game and Inland Fish-
eries for such purposes which was expressed by resolution passed by
the said board on January first, nineteen hundred and thirty-four; and
Whereas, there is some question whether or not the said board
possesses and is invested with the authority to put and devote the
said property to such uses; now, therefore:
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of the said county of Pittsylvania be and it is
hereby authorized and empowered to lease and turn over to the State
of Virginia the said county poot farm of said county of Pittsylvania,
with its appurtenances, to be used by the Commission of Game and
Inland Fisheries, for the purpose of propagation and preservation of
game birds, game animals and fish, in such manner and in such way
as it may think proper, so long as the said property shall be devoted
to such purposes, without any other charge or compensation therefor,
and to do all things necessary, proper and convenient for the carrying
out and accomplishment of said purposes.
2. Be it further enacted that all action heretofore taken and all
things done or attempted to be done by said board for the carrying out
and accomplishment of the purposes aforesaid, be, and they are hereby
authorized, ratified and confirmed.
3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its passage.
