city of Hopewell, to vest i idycircuit court all jurisdictions now vestec
ell; and to repeal all acts and parts of acts

I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
corporation court of the city of Hopewell be, and the same hereby is,
abolished. All jurisdiction now vested in the said corporation court is
hereby vested in the circuit court of the city of Hopewell. All causes,
actions and proceedings now pending in the said corporation court of
the city of Hopewell are hereby transferred to the circuit court of the
city of Hopewell, and shall be proceeded with in the said court as if
they had been originally instituted therein. All records of the corpora-
tion court of the city of Hopewell shall be transferred to and become a
part of the records of the said circuit court of the city of Hopewell.
The office of clerk of the corporation court of the city of Hopewell is
hereby abolished. The clerk of said court shall continue in office under
the designation of clerk of the circuit court of the city of Hopewell to
all intents and purposes as if he had been regularly elected as clerk of
that court. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions
of this act are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force on and after
February first, nineteen hundred and thirty-four.
