Chap. 375.—An ACT to authorize the city of Fredericksburg to issue bonds for the
erection and equipment of additional free school buildings, subject to a vote of
the electorate thereon. [S B 363]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
council of the city of Fredericksburg, Virginia, be and it is authorized
to issue serial bonds of said city to an amount not to exceed fifty thou-
sand ($50,000.00) dollars, which bonds shall bear interest at a rate not
to exceed six per centum per annum, for the purpose of securing funds
with which to erect and equip such additional public free school build-
ings in said city, as the council may hereafter determine, provided that
said bonds shall not be sold for less than par and the full faith and
credit of the city shall be pledged to the payment of principal and in-
terest thereof, and ,
Provided further, that said bonds shall not be issued or sold until
the sense of the qualified voters of the city shall have been taken there-
on at a special election to be held in the manner provided by chapter
one hundred and twenty-two of the Code of Virginia, and any amend-
ments thereto, and it shall appear that a majority of the qualified vot-
ers, voting at such election, shall be in favor of such bond issue, and an
order entered showing same, as provided by said chapter.
The judge of the corporation court of Fredericksburg shall order
an election to be held as provided by said chapter, when and if there
shall be presented to the court a duly certified copy of an ordinance of
the council, requesting that such election be held, and in all other re-
spects said election shall be as provided by said chapter and any
amendments thereto.
