Chap. 369.—An ACT to amend section 3035 of the Code of Virginia relating to
pensions and group insurance in cities. [S B 49]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
thirty hundred and thirty-five of the Code of Virginia be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows: ,
Section 3035. Pensions and group insurance for employees of
cities.—The councils or other governing bodies of the cities of the first
class may, by ordinance adopted by a recorded vote of a majority of
the members elected or a majority elected to each branch, if there be
more than one branch, establish a system of pensions or group insur-
ance or both for injured, retired or superannuated employees other
than those elected by the people of said cities. Said ordinance may
establish a fund for the payment of such pensions or group insurance
by making appropriations out of the treasury of the city, by requiring
contributions, payable from time to time from the employees or: any
combination of one or more of said methods; or by-any other mode
not prohibited by law. mrete | oak
