Chap. 32.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by incorporating therein a new
section to be designated as section 1834-b, the object thereof being to create and
establish a safety codes commission of Virginia, and to prescribe its duties.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by incorporating therein a new section
to be designated as section eighteen hundred and thirty-four-b, to read
as follows:
Section 1834-b, There is hereby created and established, as an
agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, a safety codes commission
of Virginia. The commission shall consist of the commissioner of
labor, the member of industrial commission of Virginia representing
employers and the State health commissioner. The commissioner of
labor, the member of the industrial commission of Virginia selected
to serve on the commission, and the State health commissioner shall
receive no additional compensation for their services as members of
the commission other than that provided by law for their respective
positions as commissioner of labor, member of the industrial commis-
sion of Virginia, and State health commissioner.
The commission shall meet at least once every six months and
other meetings may be held at any time upon call of the chairman or
of any two members of the commission. Two members of the com-
mission shall constitute a quorum.
Ihe commission shall at its first meeting, or as soon thereafter as
practicable, and annually thereafter, select from its members a chair-
man.
The commission shall study and investigate all phases of safety in
industry, and from time to time make recommendations regarding
safety in industry to the general assembly for enactment into law.
