Chap. 253.—An ACT to permit certain appropriations and expenditures be made
for grading and beautifying grounds upon which public schools are hereafter

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That when-
ever any public school building is hereafter constructed in this State,
the board of supervisors of the county, or the council of the city, or
council of the town if such town constitutes a separate school district,
in which such public school building is so constructed, may appropriate
a sum, not more than five (5%) per centum, of the construction cost
of such public school building, which shall be used by the school board
of such county, city, or town, for grading and beautifying the grounds
upon which such school building is located.
