Chap. 246.—An ACT for the relief of Henrico Lumber Company, Incorporated.

Approved March 23, 1932 ;
Whereas, on the third day of January, nineteen hundred and thirty,
certain agents and servants of the State highway commission, while
engaged in distributing tar on certain State highways in the county of
Northumberland, negligently cast great quantities of tar upon and over
a large amount of pulp wood owned by Henrico Lumber Company,
Incorporated, and then in piles on the public shore at Lodge landing,
in said county, which resulted in the complete loss of seventeen cords
of said wood, of the market value of two hundred and twenty-two
dollars and seventy cents; and,
Whereas, no action will lie against the State highway commission
for the recovery of the damages sustained by the said Henrico Lumber
Company, Incorporated, on account of the loss of said wood; now,
therefore, ,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
be, and is hereby, appropriated out of the funds in the State treasury
appropriated for the construction and reconstruction of State high-
ways and to meet federal aid, the sum of two hundred and twenty-
two dollars and seventy cents to compensate the said Henrico Lumber
Company, Incorporated, for the loss so sustained by it, and that the
comptroller issue his warrant on the State treasurer, in favor of said
company, for such amount.
