Chap. 198.—An ACT to provide for the sending of certain land books to the Vir-
ginia State Library. [H B 375}

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
judge of the circuit court of each county, and the judge of the cor-
poration or hustings court of each city, is hereby authorized and re-
quired to direct either the commissioner of the revenue or the clerk
of the court or the treasurer of his county or city to send to the
Virginia State Library the copy of the land book in the office of such
commissioner of the revenue or clerk or treasurer, as the case may
be, for each of the years nineteen hundred and twenty-seven, nineteen
hundred and twenty-eight, nineteen hundred and twenty-nine, nineteen
hundred and thirty, nineteen hundred and thirty-one, and nineteen
hundred and thirty-two; but no such direction shall be given by any
such judge to a commissioner of the revenue or a treasurer or clerk
as to any land book until such land book shall have become three
years old, and it is hereby made the duty of every commissioner of
the revenue and clerk and ‘treasurer to preserve his copy of the land
book for each year in good condition, pending such disposition
thereof as may be prescribed by law or lawful authority; provided
however that this act shall not apply in any county or city in which
there may be only two complete copies of the land book in existence.
