Chap. 127.—An ACT to authorize the appointment of an assistant attorney for the
Commonwealth for Roanoke county ; to prescribe his powers and duties, and to
provide for his compensation. — [S B 165]
Approved March 9, 1932
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
attorney for the Commonwealth for the county of Roanoke, with the
consent and approval of the circuit court of said county, or of the
judge thereof in vacation, evidenced by an order entered in the com-
mon law order book of said court, may appoint an assistant attorney
for the Commonwealth for said county, who shall have the same
powers, and may discharge any of the official duties of his principal
during his continuance in office. Said assistant, before entering upon
the discharge of his official duties, shall take and subscribe the oath
required by law to be taken by county officers, which oath shall be
filed with the clerk of said court, and by him properly labeled and
filed in his office for preservation. Such assistant may be removed
from office, either by his principal, or by said court, or by the judge
thereof in vacation.
Such assistant shall have such compensation as may be agreed
upon between him and his principal, all of which shall be paid him
by his principal, and he shall receive no further compensation, either
from the county or the Commonwealth. The attorney for the Com-
monwealth shall be entitled to collect the same fees in cases where
the Commonwealth or any sub-division thereof, is represented by said
assistant, as he would be entitled to receive if be had appeared | in
