Chap. 120.—An ACT to relieve the director of the division of motor vehicles from
liability in the event of loss of certain funds belonging to the Commonwealth.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
director of the division of motor vehicles is hereby relieved of any
and all liability for any loss resulting from the failure or insolvency
of any bank or trust company, or because of the defalcation of any
officer or employee of any bank or trust company, of any funds be-
longing to the Commonwealth, collected by any agent or agents of
the said director or of the said division of motor vehicles, and depos-
ited, whether heretofore or hereafter, in any said bank or trust com-
pany to the credit of the said director. ,
2. Nothing in this act shall in any way affect the provisions of law
concerning the securities deposited by State depositories pursuant to
section twenty-one hundred and fifty-eight of the Code of Virginia, as
amended, to protect funds belonging to the Commonwealth.
3. If any provision of this act shall be adjudged by a court of
competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment shall not affect
the remaining provisions of this act.
4. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
