Chap. 118.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new sec-
tion designated section 2704-a, relating to place of residence of certain county
officers. [H B 154]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section, desig-
nated section twenty-seven hundred and four-a, to read as follows:
Section 2704-a Notwithstanding the provisions of section twenty-
seven hundred and three, in any county having a population of less
than twenty-five thousand inhabitants, and having within its geo-
graphical boundaries a city having a population of more than seven
thousand and less than eight thousand inhabitants, according to the
last United States census, no person shall hereafter be eligible for
election or appointment as treasurer or commissioner of the revenue,
or for election to any other county office to serve the county alone
and not to serve any city within the geographical boundaries of such
county, unless such person shall have been a resident of the county
for at least six months immediately preceding such election or ap-
pointment. |
If any officer, required by this section to reside in the county for
which he is elected or appointed, remove therefrom, his office shall
be deemed vacant. .
