Chap. 109.—An ACT for the protection of foxes in the counties of Loudoun, Lee,
Culpeper, Rappahannock and Fauquier, and to provide penalties for the viola-
tion of the provisions of this act. [H B 89]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be unlawful for any person to poison, shoot at, trap, hunt or kill
any fox in the counties of Loudoun, Lee, Culpeper, Rappahannock and
Fauquier, between April first and September first following, in each
year; provided, however, that this act shall not apply to any person
who is the owner or tenant of any land in said counties and who shall
poison, shoot at, trap, hunt or kill any foxes on land owned or occu-
pied by him as such tenant or owners, when such foxes are actually
doing harm on the property of such tenant or owners. And between
September first and April first, it shall be unlawful to shoot, trap or
poison any fox, except on written authority from the landowners.
2. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this
act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof, shall be fined not less than ten dollars nor more than twenty-
five dollars.
3. An emergency existing this act shall be in force from its
passage,
