Chap. 106.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2726 of the Code of Virginia
as last amended by an act approved March 27, 1930, in relation to boards of
supervisors. [H B 120]

I. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion twenty-seven hundred and twenty-six of the Code of Virginia, as
last amended by an act approved March twenty-seventh, nineteen
hundred and thirty, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:
Section 2726. The board shall have power to provide for insur-
ance on all county buildings and property, and if there are no public
buildings, to provide temporary suitable rooms for the county pur-
poses; to determine what annual allowance payable out of the county
treasury shall be made severally to the sheriffs, county clerks, and
attorneys for the Commonwealth of their respective counties ; so that,
in counties containing a population of ten thousand and less, the al-
lowance to each of said officers shall not be less than three hundred
dollars nor exceed six hundred dollars; in counties containing ten and
less than fifteen thousand, not less than four hundred dollars nor
more than seven hundred dollars; in counties containing fifteen and
less than twenty thousand, not less than five hundred dollars nor more
than eight hundred dollars; and in counties containing twenty and
less than thirty thousand, not less than six hundred dollars nor more
than nine hundred dollars; and in counties containing thirty thousand
and less than forty thousand, not less than seven hundred dollars nor
more than one thousand dollars : and in counties containing over
forty thousand, not less than a thousand dollars nor more than fif-
teen hundred dollars; and in counties containing over fitty thousand,
not less than twelve hundred dollars nor more than fifteen hundred
dollars, except that the annual allowance to attorneys for the Com-
monwealth of their respective counties, shall not be less, in any case,
than four hundred dollars, all of which specified allowance shall be
subject to the provisions contained in the twelve sections next follow-
ing, and numbered twenty-seven hundred and twenty-six-a to twenty-
seven hundred and twenty-six-l, both inclusive.
