Chap. 92.——-An ACT to amend and re-enact sub-section (a) of section 25 of
chapter 474 of the acts of assembly of 1926, being an act entitled an act tc
regulate the operation of vehicles on public highways, to govern and protect
pedestrians while using such highways; to provide penalties for violating the
provisions of this act and the disposition of fines and forfeitures collected
hereunder; to make uniform the law relating to the subject matter of this
act, and to repeal all acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions
of this act, approved March 25, 1926, as heretofore amended. [H B 46]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sub-
section (a) of section twenty-five of chapter four hundred and seventy-
four of the acts of assembly of nineteen hundred and twenty-six, being
an act entitled an act to regulate the operation of vehicles on public
highways to govern and protect pedestrians while using such highways;
to provide penalties for violating the provisions of this act and the dispo-
sition of fines and forfeitures collected hereunder ; to make uniform the
law relating to the subject matter of this act, and to repeal all acts
or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act, approved
March twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred and twenty-six, as heretofore
amended, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 25. Stopping on highways.—(a) No vehicle shall be
stopped in such manner as to impede or interfere with or render
dangerous the use of the highways by others; and, except upon one-
way streets, as provided in this article, no vehicle shall be stopped
except close to the right hand curb; provided, that the council or
other governing body of any city or town may, by a general ordinance,
provide for the regulation of parking within its limits and may author-
ize the city manager, the director of public safety, the chief of police,
or other designated officer within said city or town to put said regu-
lation into effect, including specifically the right and authority to
classify vehicles with reference to parking, and to designate the time,
place, and manner such vehicles may be allowed to park on city or
town streets, and may delegate to the appropriate administrative official
or officials the authority to make and enforce such additional rules
and regulations as parking conditions may require, and may prescribe
penalties for failure to conform thereto.
2. All acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act be, and the
same are, hereby repealed.
3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force and effect
from and after its passage.
