Chap. 85.——An ACT to amend and re-enact section 67 of the Code of Virginia
defining colored persons and American Indians and tribal Indians. [S B 49]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
sixty-seven of the Code of Virginia be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:
Section 67. Every person in whom there is ascertainable any negr
blood shall be deemed and taken to be a colored person, and ever
person not a colored person having one-fourth or more of America
Indian blood shall be deemed an American Indian; except that mer
bers of Indian tribes living on reservations allotted them by the Com
monwealth of Virginia having one-fourth or more of Indian blood an
less than one-sixteenth of negro blood shall be deemed tribal Indian
so long as they are domiciled on said reservations.
