Chap. 426.—An ACT to authorize the granting by the rector and visitors of the
University of Virginia of certain lands and certain easements and rights
over certain lands of said university. [fH B 59]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
rector and visitors of the University of Virginia be, and is hereby,
authorized to grant by its proper deed to the Virginia Public Service
Company, a tract or lot of land of not more than five acres, lying
on Rivanna river in Albemarle county, being a portion of the lands
of said, the rector and visitors of the University of Virginia, known
as “Pantops” and recently conveyed to said the rector and visitors of
the University of Virginia by Ida Ellis White and W. H. Langdon
White, her husband and as appurtenant thereto a right of way over
the remaining portion of said land and to also grant to said Virginia
Public Service Company an easement or easements for the construc-
tion, maintenance and operation of electric transmission lines over a
certain portion of said “Pantops” property; the land to be conveyed
and the right of way thereto and the easement or easements to be
granted to be such as may be agreed to by said, the rector and visitors
of the University of Virginia and the said company, and shall be
conveyed at such reasonable price and upon such reasonable terms
as may be agreed to by said, the rector and visitors of the University of
Virginia, and said company. The purchase price for such land and
easement or easements shall be paid by said company to said, the rec-
tor and visitors of the University of Virginia, to be by it promptly
transmitted to the State treasury, as required by law.
