Chap. 422.—-An ACT to amend and re-enact section 299 of the tax Code of
Virginia, in relation to the furnishing of supplies and equipment by counties
and cities for certain State officers. [S B 344]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion two hundred and ninety-nine, of the tax Code of Virginia, in
relation to the furnishing of supplies and equipment by counties and
cities for certain State officers, be amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows:
Section 299. Boards of supervisors and councils to furnish com-
missioners of the revenue, county treasurers, and certain clerks with
certain supplies and equipment necessary for the conduct of their
offices.—The board of supervisors of each county shall, at the expense
of the county, and the city council of each city shall, at the expense
of the city, provide suitable books and stationery in addition to sup-
plies furnished by the State, for the use of the commissioner of the
revenue, the county treasurer, the clerk of the circuit court, and the
clerks of all city courts of record, together with appropriate cases
and other furniture, for the safe and convenient keeping of all the
books, documents, and papers, in the custody of each of said officers,
and also official seals for each of said officers, where the same are
required by law, and also such other office equipment and appliances,
including typewriters and adding machines, as in their judgment
may be reasonably necessary for the proper conduct of such offices.
2. All acts and parts of acts in conflict herewith are hereby re-
pealed.
3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage. |
