Chap. 418.—An ACT to provide a landscape planning engineer for the State
highway commission, and to define his duties. [S B 273]

I. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
State highway commissioner be and he is hereby directed to appoint,
prior to September first, nineteen hundred and thirty, a State land-
scape planning engineer as a regular member of the staff of the State
highway commission, to hold office during the pleasure of the com-
mission, at a salary to be same as a district engineer and to be paid
from the funds of said commission, as other salaries are.
2. It shall be the duty of said landscape architect, under the
direction of the said highway commissioner, to study the preservation
of the natural beauty of Virginia State highways, and to devise methods
by which the rights of way of said highways may be beautified and
improved.
