Chap. 362.—An ACT to amend the tax Code of Virginia, by adding thereto
a new section, numbered section 97-a, in relation to the town taxation of
bank and trust company stock. [H B 268]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
tax Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section, to
be numbered section ninety-seven-a, which new section shall read as
follows:
Section 97-a. In the event any incorporated town in this State
has imposed the tax authorized by this chapter, and the bank on whose
stockholders the tax has been imposed by such town has one or more
branches located in another town or towns in this State, the council
of the town which imposed the tax shall have authority to pay the
town or towns in which such branch or branches are located such pro-
portion of the funds derived from the tax so imposed as it may deem
equitable and proper.
