Chap. 358.—An ACT to authorize the State board of education in its dis-
cretion, to convey to the Seaboard Air Line Railway Company a certain
easement in a part of the land occupied by the Virginia State College for
Negroes, at Petersburg. [H B 258]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
State board of education be, and it is hereby, authorized and em-
powered, in its discretion, and upon payment of such consideration as
it may deem sufficient, to grant to the Seaboard Air Line Railway
Company a perpetual easement, or right of way, not in excess of one
hundred feet, in width, for its track or tracks over and across a part
of the land owned by the State and occupied by the Virginia State
College for Negroes, at Petersburg, as the same has been laid out and
located by said company, or as may be hereafter agreed upon by the
said Seaboard Air Line Railway Company and the State board of
education, the consideration therefore to be paid into the State treasury,
and to be appropriated, upon the order of the State board of education,
for the construction of new buildings, repairs or improvements, upon
the property of the said college and for no other purpose.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
