Chap. 331.—An ACT to allow the council of the town of Hillsville, county of
Carroll, to remove the Confederate monument off the State highway route
number 15 (now United States route number 121) in said town to the court-
house yard, at the expense of the said town. [H B 159]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
council of the town of Hillsville, county of Carroll, is hereby em-
powered and given the right to remove the Confederate monument in
the town Hillsville from the right of way of State highway route num-
ber fifteen (now United States route number one hundred and twenty-
one) in said town and to re-erect it on the courthouse yard in said
town, at the expense of the said town, doing the least possible damage
to the said monument, and placing it in a conspicuous and public place
so as to be viewed by the general public.
2. An emergency existing this act shall become effective from its
passage.
