Chap. 327.—An ACT to prohibit the use of nets, or fykes, with wings or hedges,
in Gordon’s creek in James City county, in this State, and to provide for
penalties for violation. [H B 144]

I. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be unlawful for any person to take or catch fish in Gordon’s creek, a
tributary of James-Chicahominy river, in the county of James City, in
this State, by means of any net or haul seine; and, it shall be unlawful
for any person to take or catch fish, in the said creek by means of fyke
nets with wings or hedges, stretched from the mouth thereof.
2. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be assessed for a
fine of not less than ten dollars, nor more than fifty dollars for each
offense.
