Chap. 23.—An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of
Amherst county to repair and maintain certain streets in the towns or villages
of the county, and to appropriate money therefor. [fH B 40]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Amherst county be, and it is hereby author-
ized and empowered in its discretion to repair and maintain the streets
of towns or villages situated in said county in any case where such
street constitutes a connection or an extension of a county road, or
is used as a highway or street, and to appropriate funds for the repair
and maintenance of such street. But such repair and maintenance,
of itself, of any highway or street, not embraced in the county high-
way system, shall not constitute the same as a public highway or
street for any longer period of time than the same shall be so kept
in repair and maintained.
