CHAP. 210.—An ACT to amend chapter 141 of the acts of assembly of 1875,
entitled an act to incorporate the town of Glade Spring, in the county of
Washington, by adding thereto three new sections, to be numbered 8, §
and 10. [H B 201]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That chap-
ter one hundred and forty-one of the acts of assembly of eighteer
hundred and seventy-five, be amended by adding thereto three new
sections, numbered eight, nine and ten, as follows:
Section 8. The council of the town of Glade Spring, Virginia.
shall have the control and management of the fiscal and municipal
affairs of the town, of all property, real and personal, belonging tc
the said town; and may make such ordinances, orders, by-laws and
regulations for the protection of property and the preservation of peace
and order as it may deem necessary, and may provide such penalties
for the violation of its ordinances, not in conflict with this act or the
laws of the State of Virginia, as said council shall deem necessary.
Section 9. In the trial of all persons accused of the violation of a
town ordinance or any other misdemeanor or other offense of which
the mayor of said town has jurisdiction under its charter or ordinances
of the town or the laws of the State of Virginia, committed within the
town of Glade Spring or within one mile of the corporate limits thereof,
the mayor of the town of Glade Spring shall have exclusive original
jurisdiction.
Section 10. An emergency existing affecting the finances of the
town of Glade Spring, this act shall be in effect from its passage.
