Chap. 207.—An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of
counties adjacent to counties having a density of population in excess of five
hundred inhabitants per square mile, to lay a special levy annually, for
fire protection. [H B 194]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be the duty of the president of the county volunteer firemen’s
ssociation of any county adjacent to a county having a density of
opulation in excess of five hundred inhabitants per square mile, in
he month of February in each year, to lay before the board of super-
visors of the county a budget showing the estimated amount of money
necessary for fire protection in the county for the following year,
including indebtedness on necessary fire equipment heretofore pur-
chased, which budget shall be inspected by said board and if it meets
with their approval, the amount thereof shall be included in the county
budget; or should a portion of such budget be approved and a por-
tion of such budget be disapproved the amount approved shall be
included in the county budget for such year and the said board of
supervisors is hereby authorized and empowered to lay a special levy
each year, at the time the other county and district levies are laid,
on all property subject to taxation by the county, sufficient to take
care of the fire protection budget so included in the county budget.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
