Chap. 6.—An ACT to authorize the city of Newport News to apply the un
expended proceeds from the sale of bonds for bridge purposes in said city
issued under Acts of Assembly, 1920, chapter 125, to the payment to Flizabetl
City county on public school bonds and on a public school in territory an
nexed to the city of Newport News. [S B 7

Whereas, the city of Newport News, under authority of an ac
of the general assembly of Virginia, nineteen hundred and twenty
chapter one hundred and twenty-five, the city of Newport New:
issued and made sale of bonds to the amount of one hundred anc
twenty-five thousand dollars, the proceeds of which were to be
expended in rebuilding, repairing and redecking bridges in sat
city over railroad tracks therein; and
Whereas, after completion of said works, there was left there
from in the city treasury a sum of money now, with interest
amounting to seventy-two thousand, eight hundred and thirty
seven dollars; and
Whereas, by order entered on the thirtieth day of April, nine
teen hundred and twenty-six, in the circuit court for the count;
of Elizabeth City, in certain annexation proceedings therein pend
ing, it was ordered, amongst other things, that the city of New
port News should pay to the county of Elizabeth City the sum o
ninety thousand dolars for a public school, erected in the terri
tory annexed to the said city by said order and also for a porto
of the school bonds charged against said annexed territory; an
Whereas, the city of Newport News desires to apply upon th
payment to the said county, in pursuance of said order, the afore
said funds now in its treasury, now, therefore,
I. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, Tha
the city of Newport News be and it is hereby authorized to appl.
the sum of seventy-two thousand, eight hundred and thirty-seve
dollars, being the unexpended balance, with interest, now in it
treasury, derived from the sale of bonds authorized by acts of th
general assembly of Virginia, nineteen hundred and twenty, char
ter one hundred and twenty-five, for the rebuilding, repairing an
red::king of bridges in the said city, to the payment to Flizabet
City county, for said public school purposes in territory now ar
nexed to the city of Newport News, under order of the circuit court
of Elizabeth City county, entered on the thirticth day of April
nineteen hundred and twenty-six.
