Chap. 524.—An ACT to provide for the retirement of any judge of a corpora-
tion or circuit court who shall have attained the age of eighty years and
who shall have served continuously as judge of said court for thirty years,
and to provide for their compensation. {(S B 81]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That any
judge of a corporation or circuit court who shall have attained the age
of eighty years and who shall have served continuously as judge of
such court for thirty years, may at any time after this act becomes
effective, apply to the governor for retirement, and thereupon the gov-
ernor shall notify the comptroller, who shall place the name of such
judge on a list of retired judges of such courts, and, in recognition of
the long and faithful service of such judge, he shall receive out of the
treasury of the State a sum equal to one-half of the salary which
he was receiving at the time of such retirement for the balance of his
life. The provisions of this act shall also apply to any ex-Confederate
soldier who resigned as judge before his term expired and who 1s
now over eighty years of age.
