Chap. 523.—An ACT providing for the relief of Amelia Anne Cox. [S B 70]

Whereas, Joseph Cox, a State convict, while at work for the State
highway department, in State convict camp number four, or Coleman's
Falls, in Bedford county, Virginia, on the fifteenth day of February,
nineteen hundred and twenty-seven, was assaulted and struck with a
pick by Isaiah Saunders, another State convict in the same camp, which
assault resulted in the death of the said Joseph Cox; and,
Whereas, the said Amelia Anne Cox, the mother of the said Joseph
Cox, was compelled to pay out and expend the sum of one hundred
and fifty-five dollars and two cents, in and about his burial; and,
Whereas, no method is provided whereby the said Amelia Anne
Cox can be reimbursed for the amount so expended by her, save by an
act of the general assembly of Virginia; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
comptroller be, and he is hereby directed to issue his warrant on the
treasurer of Virginia, in favor of the said Amelia Anne Cox, for the
said sum of one hundred and fifty-five dollars and two cents, to reim-
burse her for the expenses incurred by her as aforesaid, the same to
be paid out of the monies in the State treasury appropriated for the
maintenance and operation of the State convict road force.
