Chap. 466.—An ACT to authorize and require certain district school taxes to he
levied in the county of York, and to provide for the collection and expendi-
ture of the funds derived from such levies. [H B 356]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That each
school district in the county of York be, and it is hereby, authorized
and required to raise sums by a tax on all property subject to local
school taxation of not to exceed one dollar and twenty-five cents, in
the aggregate, on the one hundred dollars of the assessed value ot
such property in any one year, to be apportioned and expended by the
local school authorities of said county in establishing and maintaining
the schools, in such districts, as in their judgment the public welfare
may require. The said tax shall be in lieu of and not in addition to the
district school tax authorized and required by general law. The board
of supervisors of the said county shall provide for the levy and collec-
tion of the said tax.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its passage.
