Chap. 44.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act of the general assembly entitled
an act to provide for closing the registration books fifteen days before any
special or primary election in cities of not less than 100,000, having a general
registrar, approved March 23, 1923, so as to make it apply to cities of not
less than 50,000 population. [H B 66]

I. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an
act of the general assembly, entitled an act to provide for closing
the registration books fifteen days before any special or primary
election in cities of not less than one hundred thousand nor more
than one hundred and sixty thousand, and having a general regis-
trar, approved March twenty-third, nineteen hundred and twenty-
three, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 1. In cities having a population not less than fifty thou-
sand inhabitants, according to the last preceding census, and having
a general registrar, the registration books for all voting districts or
precincts in such cities shall be closed for the purpose of registering
voters, for a period of fifteen days next preceding the day of any
special or primary election.
Z. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
