Chap. 438.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act to amend ard
re-enact an act approved March 20, 1920, entitled an act in relation to local
school taxes; and repealing sections 740 and 2721 of the Code of Virginia,
by adding a new section thereto, to be known as section la, relating to Incal
school taxes in the county of Lee approved March 7, 1924, as amended by
chapter 62 of the acts of assembly of 1926, page 70. [H B 147]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an
act entitled an act to amend and re-enact an act approved March
twentieth, nineteen hundred and twenty, entitled an act in relation
to local school taxes; and repealing sections seven hundred ard
forty and twenty-seven hundred and twenty-one of the Code of
Virginia, by adding a new section thereto, to be known as section
one-a, relating to local school taxes in the county of Lee, approved
March seventh, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, as amended by
chapter sixty-two of the Acts of assembly of nineteen hundred ane
twenty-six, page seventy, be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows:
Section l-a. In the county of Lee, the county and district schoul
taxes, as hereinbefore authorized, shall be not less than fitty cents
nor more than two dollars in the aggregate, on the one hundred
dollars of assessed value of property t taxable for local school pur-
poses in any one year. But said increase shall not be made in any
magisterial district except upon the motion of the supervisor o7
that district.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
