Chap. 41.—An ACT to authorize the board of the Virginia teachers colleges to
sell and convey a tract of land belonging to the State teachers college, at
Fredericksburg, and to acquire by purchase for said college certain lots from
the proceeds of sale. [H B 27]

Whereas, the board of the Virginia teachers colleges, in order to
promote the purposes of the State teachers college for women, at
Fredericksburg, Virginia, desires to sell to D. J. Boulware, of
Fredericksburg, a small parcel of real estate belonging to the said
college, containing one and fifty-two one-hundredths acres, and
fully described in survey and plat of W. N. Hamlet, dated January,
nineteen hundred and twenty-eight, (which plat and survey shall
be made a part of the deed to the said Boulware, in the event that
this sale is authorized) for the price of three thousand five hundred
dollars cash; and
Whereas, said board by resolution adopted December sixteen,
nineteen hundred and twenty-seven, provided for the sale of said
property, subject to the approval of the general assembly, and
Whereas, by the said resolution, the board recommended the use
of three thousand dollars, of the money derived from said sale for
the purchase by the college of those certain three lots, lying, being
and situate in Courtland magisterial district, Spotsylvania county,
Virginia, described and designated as lots four, five and six, block
one hundred and six, according to the map and plat of the Fred-
ericksburg Development Company, which map is of record in the
clerk’s office of the circuit court of Spotsylvania, Virginia, being the
same lots conveyed unto A. B. Chandler, Junior, by deed of Septem-
ber thirty, nineteen hundred and twenty-five, by F. W. Feuerherd
and E. C. Feuerherd, his wife, upon which lots the said D. J. Boul-
ware now holds an option from the said A. B. Chandler, for the
use of the remaining five hundred dollars of the purchase price of
the property proposed to be sold, for the purchase of equipment
for the science department of the college, or for such other use
by the college as the board may approve; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
said board is hereby authorized to sell and convey by proper deed
to the said D. J. Boulware, the said tract of one and fifty-two one-
hundredths acres, referred to above, for the sum of three thousand
and five hundred dollars cash, and is further authorized to purchase
from the said D. J. Boulware and A. B. Chandler, Junior, the said
lots described above, at the price of three thousand dollars for the
use of the said college and is further authorized to use the remaining
five hundred dollars derived from the sale of the property aforesaid,
for such college purposes as the board may hereafter approve.
