Chap. 375.—An ACT to appropriate the sum of $15,000.00 from any monies in
the treasury not otherwise appropriated to be used to aid in the construction
of a wharf and walk at Jamestown Island. [S B 187]

Whereas, the congress by the first deficiency act, fiscal year nineteen
hundred and twenty-eight, appropriated the sum of fifteen thousand
dollars for the construction of a wharf and walk at Jamestown island
conditioned that at least an equal amount be provided therefor by the
Commonwealth of Virginia or the Association for the Preservation of
Virginia Antiquities before said appropriation should be available; and,
Whereas, the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiqui-
ties has no funds available for the purpose; and
Whereas, the funds appropriated by the congress will not be avail-
able unless expended or obligated by contract before June thirtieth,
nineteen hundred and twenty-nine; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That for the
purpose of meeting the said appropriation of the congress and for
taking advantage thereof the sum fifteen thousand dollars is hereby
appropriated for the purpose of aiding in the construction of a wharf
and walk at Jamestown island, said appropriation to be paid out of
any monies in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the same to
be paid by the treasurer on the warrant of the comptroller in install-
ments or as a whole when and as ordered by the governor.
2. A certified copy of this bill shall be transmitted by the clerk
of the house of delegates and keeper of the rolls of Virginia to the presi-
dent of the United States and the secretary of the treasury of the
United States.
