Chap. 217.—An ACT to amend and re-enact chapter 23 of the acts of assembly,
1922, entitled an act to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of
Cumberland county to levy a special district road tax for Hamilton district
in Cumberland county, Virginia, and to pay out of the same certain debts
due to contractors for work done on roads in said district, approved February
' 17, 1922. [H B 252]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That chap-
ter twenty-three of the acts of assembly of Virginia, approved Feb-
ruary seventeenth, nineteen hundred and twenty-two entitled an
act to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Cumber-
land county to levy a special district road tax for Hamilton district
in Cumberland county, and to pay out of the same certain debts
due to contractors for work done on roads in said district, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
The board of supervisors of Cumberland county, Virginia, in
order to pay off and discharge the claims hereinafter mentioned due
to the parties named herein is hereby authorized and directed to
levy a special district road tax in Hamilton district of Cumberland
county, Virginia, sufficient to pay in three equal annual install-
ments, the first to be paid in nineteen hundred and twenty-eight,
the second in nineteen hundred and twenty-nine, and the third in
nineteen hundred and thirty to the parties hereinafter named the
following sums of money due to them for road work in said district,
to-wit:
To Battershill and Goode, the sum of one thousand and seventy-
five dollars and twenty-three cents ($1,075.23).
To Sanderson and Parker, the sum of one thousand one hun-
dred and thirty-seven dollars and eleven cents ($1,137.11).
To Hamilton Construction Company, the sum of one thousand,
one hundred and sixteen dollars and ninety-eight cents ($1,116.98).
To H. P. Baker, the sum of one thousand, nine hundred and
seventy-five dollars and ninety-seven cents ($1,975.97).
The said special tax shall be collected by the treasurer of said
county, but shall be kept in a special fund for the payment of the
claims aforesaid; and the said board of supervisors is hereby au-
thorized upon the passage of this act to issue to the contractors
aforesaid warrants for the amounts respectively above stated to be
paid them out of said special fund, in accordance with the provisions
of this act.
The taxes levied under the provisions of this act are in addition
to any other taxes or levies now provided by law.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
