Chap. 192.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 11 of an act entitled an act
to incorporate the town of Washington, in the county of Rappahannock, ap-
proved February 12, 1894, as amended. {[H B 311]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion eleven of an act entitled an act to incorporate the town of
Washington, in the county of Rappahannock, approved February
twelfth, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, as amended, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 11. The council may impose a tax on real and tangible
personal property in said town, subject to local taxation, which
shall not exceed seventy-five cents on the one hundred dollars of
the assessed value thereof. The council may, also, when not pro-
hibited by general law, impose a license tax for the privilege of
doing any business within the corporate limits of said town, to be
half as much as may be imposed by the existing laws of the State
on such business, for State purposes, and may also impose a poll
tax not to exceed fifty cents per capita on every inhabitant of said
town over the age of twenty-one years.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
