Chap. 185.—An ACT to provide for the appointment of a county code commis-
sion: for Arlington county; prescribing the duties thereof; and providing for
its expenses. [H B 262]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the board
of supervisors of Arlington county, Virginia, shall, on or before the
first day of July, nineteen hundred and twenty-eight, appoint three
qualified voters of said county who are members of the bar of the
circuit court thereof who shall constitute the county code commission
of said county.
2. It shall be the duty of the said commission to collate and codify
all local and special acts of the general assembly of Virginia applicable
to said county; all acts of the general assembly of Virginia general in
form, but having special application in counties having a density of
population of more than three hundred per square mile; and all local
ordinances or laws promulgated by the board of supervisors or other
local authority ; and file the same properly indexed in the clerk’s office
of the circuit court of said county.
3. The board of supervisors shall furnish all supplies, stationery
and clerical help; not to exceed, however, the sum of five hundred
dollars, the same to be paid for out of the county fund.
4. The said commission shall file its report on or before July first,
nineteen hundred and twenty-nine, with such recommendations as it
may deem advisable for the repeal of laws no longer deemed suitable
for the present government of said county or for the clarification of
existing laws or for the enactment of such new laws or ordinances
as may be deemed expedient or necessary for the government of said
county. ‘
5. The members of said commission shall serve without compensa-
tion.
6. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its passage.
