ginia, relating to constructing sidewalks, planting shade trees, et cetera,

Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
forty-seven hundred and thirty-two of the Code of Virginia be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 4732. It shall be lawful for any person, owning property
in a town not incorporated, to construct, at his own expense, suitable
sidewalks along any road or street in front of his own premises, plant
shade trees along the outer edge of the said walks, and to protect said
walks and trees by posts or frames; provided, that the road or street
not covered by the sidewalk shall not be less than twenty-two feet
wide. If any person wilfully injure or destroy said walks, trees, posts,
or frames, he shall be fined not less than five nor more than twenty
dollars for each offense; provided, however, that the provisions of
this section shall not apply to counties having a population greater
than five hundred inhabitants per square mile, as shown by United
States census.
